How to watch IPTV on Windows PC and Mac with VLC
Last updated
On a computer the easiest option is the free VLC player: you paste your M3U playlist link and all channels appear. The method is the same on Windows and Mac.
Before you start
- An active subscription: your login details (or playlist link) are sent after you order.
- A stable internet connection: about 10 Mbit/s for HD and 25 Mbit/s recommended for 4K.
- The device you want to watch on, connected to the internet.
Step-by-step installation
-
Step 1 : Install VLC
Download VLC from the official website videolan.org and install it like any other software.
-
Step 2 : Open a network stream
On Windows: Media menu, then Open Network Stream. On Mac: File menu, then Open Network.
-
Step 3 : Paste your M3U link
In the network address field, paste the playlist link we sent you.
-
Step 4 : Start playback
Click Play. VLC loads the list; open the playlist with Ctrl + L on Windows, or via the Window menu on Mac.
-
Step 5 : Pick a channel
Use the playlist search to find a channel, then double-click it.
-
Step 6 : Save the list (optional)
In the playlist, save it as a file so you can reopen it faster next time.
Tips for smooth playback
- Keep VLC up to date for the latest playback fixes.
- Go full screen with the F key.
- If the picture stutters, increase the network caching in the advanced VLC preferences.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, any player that accepts M3U playlists can work, as can IPTV apps for Windows.
Check that the link is complete, without spaces, and that your subscription is active.
VLC does not always show it. A dedicated IPTV app handles the programme guide better.
